Dubois County, IN — 9/22/2025 — ALASI is proud to announce the launch of Voces Vivas: ALASI, a new project to be showcased daily in Dubois County Museum’s Hispanic Wall. This initiative builds on the foundation laid three years ago through the generous support of Indiana Humanities, which helped establish the Hispanic Wall as a space to preserve and share the stories of Latino communities in Southern Indiana.

Voces Vivas: ALASI extends this vision by documenting the remarkable journey of ALASI (Asociación Latinoamericana del Sur de Indiana) from its earliest beginnings to its present-day impact. Through multimedia storytelling and a special opening event, this project honors the voices, resilience, and legacy of Latino leadership in Dubois County.

Attendees will experience a special premiere of an 8-minute bilingual documentary, that traces ALASI’s journey from its grassroots beginnings to its role today as a driving force for equity and cultural connection in Dubois County. The film celebrates the voices of community leaders and partners, showcasing the milestones and collective achievements that have shaped ALASI’s path toward becoming a trusted resource center for all.

The evening also includes the Voces Vivas, ALASI, Opening Ceremony, featuring a lecture by Indiana University scholars who will connect ALASI’s story to the broader history of Latino immigration and advocacy in the United States. A 15-minute Q&A will follow, inviting dialogue on challenges overcome, achievements celebrated, and the vision ahead.

This project would not be possible without the strong partnership with the Indiana University Center for Rural Engagement and the continuous support of Indiana Humanities and their dedication to engaging Hoosiers in meaningful statewide conversations by asking thoughtful questions, creating one-of-a-kind programs, and fostering spaces for us to think, read, and talk together has been instrumental.
