The Dubois County Museum announces their upcoming programs.
Saturday, October 10, 2026, Storytime featuring books by children’s author Maurice
Sendak (Where the Wild Things Are) 10:30 a.m. Join local musician Chris Dixon as
he plays and starts the “Wild Rumpus” that Maurice Sendak speaks of in his book,
“Where the Wild Things Are”. Storytime held in the Log House area today for
more space to move. Coordinator Carrie Holdsworth will have crafts after the
stories and activity. Admission charged. Memberships available.
Sunday, October 11, 2026, Fall Harvest Day at museum 1-4:00 p.m. Many activities
planned around the log house. Come enjoy Patoka River Strummers Dulcimer
music, pony rides for the kids, barnyard animal encounters (come see the
miniature cow), corn shucking, shelling and grinding, honey sold,
molasses/sorghum sold, Patoka Valley Quilters demonstrating quilting, animal
trapping and hunting info, loom weaving, stone carving and more. Enjoy popcorn,
homemade ice cream and apple cider. Admission charged. Memberships
available.
Thursday, October 15, 2026, Museum has extended Hours – Open from 10:00 a.m. to
6:00 p.m. Admission charged. Memberships available.
Thursday, October 15, 2026, Dubois County Historical Society Meets and Dinner
6:30pm. David Drake speaks on Buffalo Trace updates. Reservations needed by
contacting Tom Fierst at [email protected]. Dinner and meeting. Cost is $25.
Thursday, October 22, 2026, Spooky Streets at museum 5:30-7:00 p.m. For our young
visitors. Free admission. Donations accepted
Friday and Saturday, October 30 and 31, 2026, Halloween candy handed out to visitors.
No Costumes needed.
Saturday, November 7, 2026, 10:30 a.m. American Revolution 250 Program. Last
program of the year for 250th. Grandmother talks to grandson about the
importance of the brewing war. He is wanting to sign up to fight with George
Washington’s army. Presenter is Carol Braymer, a former resident of Holland, IN.
Program will run approximately an hour. Admission charged. Memberships
available.
