The Dubois County Museum has decked out itself in the finest Christmas decorations for the holiday season. The museum elves have decorated about 20 trees throughout the museum with bright lights, bold colors, and lovely ornaments and decorations. The Santa collection from Kay Smock is displayed in several display cases. Her collection of 1,000 pieces is a must see. This year a special group of military families decorated patriotic trees in honor or memory of their loved ones serving in the military. Be sure to view these decorated trees in the Room III area.
Special upcoming events are being offered for visitors.
On Saturday and Sunday, December 2-3: Jasper O’Tannenbaum Days Programs and Exhibits are planned. Saturday, December 2 At 9 am the annual Breakfast with Santa will take place. This year the theme is Christmas Around the World. Christmas crafts, activities, and visits with Santa are in store for those who participate; Reservations were required by Nov. 25. In the afternoon take a ride with Santa on his golf cart from 1 to 3:30pm . At 2 pm a Violin Concert by The Strings, Inc will take place in the Log House area. Don’t miss it!
On Sunday, December 3 the museum is open from 1 to 4pm. Kids craft beginning at 1:30. Take a ride with Santa on his golf cart from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. Beginning at 2—Violin musical entertainment on the front porch of the log house by Lisa Hoppenjans.
On Saturday-Sunday, December 9 and 10, the museum will host its annual Cookie Walk from 10-2pm, 1-4pm Cookie sale organized and cookies made by Museum Volunteers and the ladies of Alpha Delta Kappa’s Dubois County chapter Beta Gamma. A wide variety of cookies will be available for purchase by the pound.
Also Saturday, December 9, 1-3:00pm the museum welcomes Girl Scouts Christmas Activities and Program; All Girl Scouts in area and the public invited. Revised exhibit of Girl Scouts unveiled.
On Sunday, December 10, 1:30pm, Dubois County Cloggers present a Christmas Show. Come enjoy these energetic dancers.
On Sunday, December 17, 1:30pm, Sue Lorey’s Student Piano students will present a piano recital on the museum’s Kimball grand piano.
On Sunday and Monday, December 24—25, the museum will be closed for Christmas Holiday
During the Week of December 26 thru December 29, Museum is open from 10-2pm. Storytime for students will be held on Tuesday, December 26, at 10:30am. Youngsters will hear stories, make a New Year’s Day craft, and enjoy the museum. The museum volunteers suggest a stop in at the museum. Families welcome.
